Glossop is a market town in the Borough of High Peak, Derbyshire, England. It is located 15 miles east of Manchester and near Derbyshire’s borders with Cheshire, Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. The town is situated between 150 and 300 meters above sea level and is bounded by the Peak District National Park to the south, east and north1.
Glossop has a rich history and its name is thought to be of Anglo-Saxon origin, named during the Angles’ settlement in the 7th century. The town has many attractions for visitors including Longdendale Trail, Manor Park and Howard Park. It is also an excellent base for exploring some of the Peak District’s classic walking country including Black Hill, Bleaklow, Kinder Scout and the Longdendale Valley
