St Davids – St Nons

St Nons - St Davids ,Pembrokeshire

St Nons

Dethlir Santes Non fel mam Dewi Sant, nawddsant Cymru. Roedd hi’n debygol o fod yn lleian ac yn ferch i dywysog lleol, Cynir. Rhoddodd Non enedigaeth i Ddafydd ar ôl i Sant, tywysog Ceredigion, orfodi ei hun arni. Mae capel wedi’i gysegru i’r Santes Non ar lwybr yr arfordir ger Tyddewi, yn agos at adfeilion capel llawer hŷn ar y safle lle dywedir iddi roi genedigaeth i Ddewi. Mae yna hefyd ffynnon sanctaidd y dywedir iddi dyfu ar adeg geni Dafydd ac a geisiwyd fel lle i iachau ac adnewyddu ers canrifoedd.

St Nons

St Non is celebrated as the mother of St David, the patron saint of Wales. She was likely to have been a nun and the daughter of a local prince, Cynir. Non gave birth to David after Sant, a prince of Ceredigion, forced himself upon her. A chapel dedicated to St Non is on the coastal path near St Davids, close to the ruins of a much older chapel on the site where it is said she gave birth to David. There is also a holy well which is said to have sprung up at the moment of David’s birth and has been sought as a place of healing and renewal for centuries
